Medlock was destined for the cut list. I watched him closely against the Broncos and he had almost no real velocity on his kicks. He has a strong leg, which should make him a better long distance kicker, but the ball doesn't leave the tee or turf with any "urgency". As a result, his kicks lack drive against wind and don't auto-correct like accurate kickers who play to ball movement.

Against the Broncos, Medlock pushed an easy kick wide left on a day where the wind was blowing/gusting left. He came out before the start of the second half and corrected his targeting. But this is his home stadium. He should have had the fine tuning already done. Against the Bucs, same result. I firmly believe the lack of velocity (not power!) robs Medlock of the need to drive through weather and establish a true trajectory. It's something you have or don't have as a kicker.

We'll see what's up with Cano. I don't know about the wisdom of signing him to s two-year deal, but okay.

fine tuning at home? it's his first season here and he's had very few attempts this season...

I'm not blaming Metlock, I blame the guy that put him there and didn't have him properly prepared

And so at what point do we stop conveniently heaping blame on the coaching staff and place it where it belongs - on the player?

It wasn't scheme that caused Medlock to miss the field goal. It wasn't the fickle wind. It wasn't poor coaching. It wasn't Lee Harvey, the Russians or OJ. It was Medlock.

It's his home field. He should know how to kick in it.
