yeah, that part's tough. Reid would be an upgrade, but retreads bring baggage.

Plus I've already had enough of not running the ball. *sigh*

Just have a good vibe about him. I've watched his pressers, seems very bright. He's not a long run-on sentence like Rivera, but he's very direct and honest. It's not because he's black, but he has some of that Tomlin swag. And I like that style of defense.

Not my first choice but maybe not a bad bargain bin option if we can't get a more experienced guy.

saw the Chris Brown piece and loved it as I do most of his stuff. I like running out of 3 WR - you have to have a decent line, of course - and Chud's come closest, but not close enough (especially this year). The read of a safety is a lot easier for a QB than any of five guys in the middle; it's a massive amount easier to read 6 on 6 or 5 on 5 for line protections than anything else. I can do with or without the constant hurry-up ideals but it's a way to deal with the constant specialization of the NFL game. You have Bruce Irvin out there? Great. Rookie will be forced to sit there and play the run a while. Want to play nickel all day? Sure thing.

The Tanier piece is fair, the hype has definitely grown on the guy. This is how sports fans break their own hearts - they fall in love with a guy and they demand he come here, and there's one of the guy to go around.
He's an offensive guy, some of the ideals are foreign to the NFL. OCs make it to jobs less, and succeed even less, than DCs, and he's a college offensive guy. It's not that it's not risky, by any means.

I'd rather go full-blown spread than force Cam under center 40 or 50 times a game.

In the future if you feel the urge to argue with me, just punch yourself in the nuts until the desire subsides. I humiliate you every time you run your mouth because I am much more intelligent than you, I am more knowledgeable, and I am a vindictive asshole who will take the time to thoroughly destroy every word that you say.

The depth of your willingness to delude yourself and restructure reality to protect you from conscious realizations of your own fallibility suggests that you have been deeply mentally and emotionally damaged by such confrontations in the past. You can no longer deal with your mistakes, so your mind pretends that they don't exist.

Agreed, but I would like Cam to improve enough that he can get under center a lot more than he currently does. We knew that Newton would struggle with that, and one of the sacrifices for his quick success was not challenging him to do things he wasn't already comfortable with. That seems like it serves the win-now needs of the coach more than the long-term outlook of the franchise.
