He'd never caught more than 25 passes prior to last season. I can't find the info, but it would be interesting to know how many he had that were downfield as opposed to dump-offs. He does have a pretty impressive yards per catch average.

He had a fairly prominent role in San Diego's offense last year. I suspect they plan on him to do the same thing here.

There are only so many touches to go around and with Smith, DW, Stewart and Olson to feed and the hope of developing a legit #2 WR (Gettis, Murphy, Lafell) there are not going to be a lot of plays for a fullback or second tight end anyway.

Hence why I don't understand the team signing him without trading Stewart.

I agree but I also do not understand why they extended DW with a younger Stewart still playing on his rookie deal. DW and Tolbert or Stewart and Tolbert should be enough for this team. All three seems like overkill and detrimental to the ability to add talent where it is needed badly like DL or corner.

How about offering DeAngelo to Pittsburgh in return for Wallace...see if they bite.

Yes, it keeps coming back to that. When you have a few pronounced strengths and many glaring weaknesses, you don't keep adding on to the strengths, especially when it's running back and the elite teams are throwing the football.

They wouldn't want the financial commitment, but they might do it for Stewart. I really like that idea.

I agree that we should have traded Stew but it will be nice to still have him and Tolbert if DW happens to go down. Looking on the bright side.

Seems like the plan is to try and re-sign Stewart too. I don't see it happening.
