K C Joyner Thinks Cam Is

over rated/hyped.
The dude`s arguments make very little sense in the fact that offenses also had no otas.
The pressure of being picked #1 and he was learning on the fly.
When did the Panthers win most of their games? When Cam was being more of a game manager than a gunslinger.

 

I do expect Cam's numbers to come down to earth a little this coming season but that does not mean he is not a quality QB.

 

Cam did reasonably well against the blitz, but it is true that he had less success as defenses adjusted to him. It's kind of interesting that Newton was a much better passer to the right side of the field than the left, especially since he attempted more passes to the left (where Steve lines up).

 

At the beginning of the season defenses didn't believe that Cam could throw and that they could rattle him with the blitz. They expected to be able to load the box, blitz and force us to pass. So he did. And scorched them. As defenses began to respect Cams passing ability and defend against the pass the Panthers adapted to exploit what the defenses were willing to give.

Cam wasn't the only qb to benefit from the D's lack of OTAs. He just made the most of it.

 

Cam can make the long throws. On a team with a strong running game a QB who can make the long throws is going to do pretty well. It keeps the defense from being able to stack the box against the run. Cam's running ability is bonus.

He probably will not throw for 4,000 yards this year or run for 500. Hopefully he won't need to because we wont be behind all the time and our running game will click from day one. To me the franchise QB having 14 rushing TDs is a bad thing. Let the running backs take that abuse.

 

I think Chud is always in attack mode and hopefully Cam is more comfortable in the system. If he doesn`t have more then I think he can still be close to last years numbers.
With today`s offenses taking your foot off the gas is equal to a loss. So what is Jeff Davidson up to these days?

 

If the defense and special teams don't improve, it won't really matter.
