    This might sound crazy but what's wrong with keeping Clausen? The team would not be able to get any sort of value for him in trade. Unless his cap number is too high for a backup I think he would be fine.

    There were people on this board who wanted to give him another shot as starter last year and let Cam sit for a year. Nobody will replace what Newton can do and the offense will suffer for sure. He has had time to sit and learn a bit hopefully so you expect him to be better than as a rookie.

    Or do we cut our losses and say it was a worthless pick. Id like to see what he can do at camp.

    the thinking is to have a QB that can run the offense install for Cam, so they don't have to make drastic changes if the backup has to play. i'll leave it at that.

    The cap number is the reason. I think he starts to get expensive in 2012, and because Hurney is such a dumbass the team already needs all the room it can get.
