Gross probably yes. The others can be found lower or thru FA. I'd prefer to address our immediate needs now and our future need at LT ... uh, in the future.

    DT come on down.

I really like that Michael Brockers kid. Listed as 6'6", 306. A beast on the inside line at LSU. He started as a DE. He could probably line up anywhere on the D-Line and cause havoc. Huge upside, imho. The real question is, would Rivera/Hurney use a first round pick on another DT, after the team just spent 2 3rd round picks on two guys last year. Add to that Ron Edwards will be coming back and allegedly healthy. I would LOVE for them to make this pick, because I think there is no way in hell either McClain or Fua can ever bring to the table what this guy can. All that being said, because of the reasons stated above, I bet the Panthers don't draft a DT.

    Regarding Brockers:

The risk/reward calculation from a front office standpoint must change with the rookie pay scale. I don't see how it does not give GMs, owners and coaches more leeway in terms of taking risks on first round prospects. A bust still hurts considerable in terms of team's overall talent, but less so in regards to salary caps.

Brockers is much more attractive to a FO in 2012 versus 2010 solely based on pay. This makes the pick more likely. How likely, I have no idea. I keep having to remind myself of this as I go back and forth in my mind about the likelihood of this pick.

Some 3-4 D team will take Brockers, he's perfect for that type defense.

The one gap version, presumably. I am not a Brockers fan and don't get why he's suddenly rocketed up the draft charts. Shouldn't everyone be skeptical by now of any player who suddenly becomes high first round material? Gabbert, anyone?

And I don't get why anyone would rate Wright over Blackmon either, unless they're just terrified of Blackmon being a headcase. Wright should be a good NFL receiver, but he's not in Blackmon's class as a playmaker. RG3 made him look better than he actually is.

Josh Norman fits, but hard to say at that level of competition how ready he'll be to contribute. If we don't get a starter in the first or second, he'd be a good top of four guy to fight it out. They list Prater as same, and that'd be nice, but I think as of right now he goes higher.
