Basically, the Panthers are winning games with a more creative version of Foxball.

Not crazy about how often the team uses Cam as a designed runner, but I love that he's learned to get down after he gets his yardage. Steve's targets have also gone down a lot since the bye. Nice to see him get involved since I don't want him getting angry.

I think it is part of learning how to close out games. It seems like they have led in every game they have played this year, sometimes by a pretty good margin only to lose a lot of those games.

Fox ball usually works great when you have a ten point lead in the second half.

At 5-9 they could easily be in the hunt if they had closed out a few more games where they were leading late.

True, but it's nice just to have the fourth quarter mean something. As long as they can improve and close out games in 2012, I'm fine.

...only the 4th quarter??? Hell I'm glad (for what seems like the first time in forever), that the 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarters all mean something.

I chuckled. Yeah, that's all I hoped for this year.

At the same time Cam has been throwing for fewer yards the run game has gotten better. Part of that has been Cam doing the running but more balance on offense is a good thing no matter how it comes.

we're not running the ball nearly as much, and making a lot of big plays. You can't foxball without sustained drives, and we've had less over the long haul when winning. But we don't really play field position, we're certainly not relying on our defense. I'm sure successfully running out the clock never hurts, as does controlling the pace of the game (something we didn't do well early).
