    FWIW Rivera doesn't have a 20 point home playoff blowout on his resume either.

    No...no he sure doesn't. He has only two wins with a 6th overall offense and the second most penalized team in the league, so why would this guy even be brought into a discussion about playoffs.

    It's about next year guys, and teaching our team how to do it right guys, and just ya know, last year San Fransisco got beat up, and this year they're 8-1, so we have a bright future!

    (Im probably being way too hard on him right now)

    Meeks was a good DC. I wish he were still running the defense, it was better under him.

    When you play ball control as well as most Fox teams do you are usually going to keep the game close and have a chance to win at the end. The chuck and duck is more fun to watch but it really does not add up to wins very often. You need an elite QB to pull that off. Newton may get there but he is not there yet.

    I don't remember seeing Newton punting outside of the coverage areas, missing tackles on special teams, blowing coverages on WRs, getting bulldozed off the DL, missing tackles at LB, getting numerous false starts on OL or being on the 32nd defense and 30 special teams squad.

    If our defense and special teams were just mediocre we may have a chance at being over 500. As it stands, they suck!

    26th in points last season compared to 30th now, so technically it was better but still pretty shitty. And that was with Beason, Brayton, etc. The real problem isn't the defensive scheme, it's the lack of talent on that side of the ball. Except for 2009 the drafts have been mostly offense-oriented http://www.nfl.com/draft/history/fulldraft?teamId=0750&type=team , and I can't think of any major free agent signings on defense.

    I always blamed Fox for Everette Brown. Thought he was all in a panic about replacing Peppers. We'll never really know I guess.

    I thought he just went through the motions last year, and had a shit attitude. And agree with what Collin said about stubbornness and adjustments. I'm glad he's gone and am having a chuckle over him being forced to play Tebow and getting wins.

    And fwiw, that quote about Tebow last week had me thinking he was drinking on the job.
