Huh... I always thought Muggsy was Charlotte's first sports icon.

Muggsy is awesome, I just doubt Charlotte's ability to have any kind of icon. It's the most bland, non-descript "city" on the planet.

Charlotte likes to hold sports icons to a moral code of ethics and will never accept the player for their abilities alone, not to mention the town is a gossip whore and feeds on it. In large sports market cities, player actions outside of the game rarely matter, unless they are highly criminal and even then, IE (Philly and Pittsburgh) sometimes that doesn't matter.

I actually like the fact that Charlotte requires this of players even if it does prevent sports icons from developing.

I don't know where MVP talk, Rodgers, Brady or anyone other than Manning was mentioned. My point was Manning went 3-13 his rookie season and then lead the team to 11 winning seasons. Currently the Colts are horrible with the subtraction of one player.

Will the Panthers be that dependent on Cam in a couple years and will we have 11 plus winning seasons with Cam at QB? I say, yes.

Not that I necessarily dispute your basic point, but can you remind me what Jackonsville has going for it?

being in a warm climate pretty much guarantees super bowl bids.

It can get buttfucking cold in J'ville in January. I think it was decent for that Super Bowl though.
