    That was my initial thought, too, but would they really pull the trigger on Luck with Cassel on the roster?

    Depends on how the rest of the season goes, but I highly doubt it.

    Yeah, I think so. If I'm looking at it correctly, Cassel's contract was structured such that there was only $11 million in signing bonus, of which half already counted against the cap, so it doesn't look like the hit would be enormous. His 2012 base salary would be $5.25 million, so they could keep him for a season and let Luck develop, then cut Cassel before his $7.5 and $9 million bases kick in the last two years of that contract.

    If they pick first and they think Luck is a franchise guy they take him, Cassel or no Cassel. There are always teams looking for a QB, if they didn't cut him after '12 (or this year for that matter) they could probably trade him for something.
