Of course I'm exaggerating a bit, but as someone who's basically a non-denominational football fan now, I can't blame Panther fans for feeling good tonight. It's not like I'm just drinking the Kool Aid. If Rivera didn't have to blitz every fucking play he'd be 1-0.

Exaggerating a lot. Cam still threw off his back foot constantly, and hasn't done anything against a defense that isn't unbelievably bad. That's still better than last season, where Clausen didn't do anything against unbelievably bad defenses either.

He threw for 420 yards in his first professional game, and yeah, while Arizona is bad, Carolina's offense was much worse last year.

    Word! and Agreesome!

Just enjoy it for about five minutes Collin, then you can go back to being a realist.

There were some awful coaching decisions tonight, but I also saw adjustments being made all game. That was a breath of fresh air. I think we'll realize pretty fast we don't have the personnel to run that kind of blitz scheme yet.

Just back off a bit, and we can be solid. We adjusted though...plenty, actually. It wasn't good, but it wasn't awful. Calling some of those blitzes though cost the game. It was ours to lose, and we did.

So when he fixes his mechanics, just think what he can do to a really bad defense then.

I mean, credit is due here. He threw for a shit ton of yards, and was overall, the best player on the field today.

My point is, look back to what everyone was saying on Sunday morning. Be encouraged, but don't overreact to one game for any player. Meatpile is saying that Newton has already proven that he's going to be one of the league's top quarterbacks.

I don't think, based upon one game, that Newton is gonna be one of the league's top QBs after the season is totalled. But right now, he does appear to possibly be one of the Panther's top QBs, or at least has the ability to be. He certainly appears to be the most exciting so far (of course, everybody would agree, his competition hasn't been super).

Green Bay is gonna kill us next week, regardless. I am looking forward to Newton and our O to do well and be way more exciting this season than what we've been accustomed to, though probably in many losing efforts. But we are rebuilding. I have to admit, though I was dissappointed in the loss yeaterday, it was the funnest, most exciting, encouraging and hopefull for the future loss we've had in some time. Of course, after last year......that's not saying a whole lot, admittedly. Still, I was pleasantly surprised with the O yesterday, specifically Newton. Now the D and ST are a different story.
