My biggest problem was/is that he's a chickenshit under pressure. I'll admit its the Oline's fault he's getting pressure, but he is scared shitless to take a hit. He makes STUPID STUPID plays when under stress. Its pro football he's gonna get hit. If he isn't prepared for that he'll NEVER be worth shit in the NFL.

This is just like the David Carr saga. I was critical of Carr & Clausen before they came to the Panthers, but the problem is that melodramatic Panthers fans pretend those guys are the worst players ever to suit up for the NFL and solely responsible for the team's struggles. Again, it should put things into some perspective that Clausen's completion percentage as a rookie is virtually identical to Derek Anderson's career. I've also made the point that there's little statistical difference between Clausen's rookie season and the one for Mark Sanchez. The fanbase decided that Jimmy was irredeemably worthless, but that's just because most of you get hysterical and have trouble keeping perspective.

Hey, didn't someone point out that Jake Delhomme was always like this too? Who was that guy? Oh wait ...

    Clausen sucks...

Anderson is not great, I do think he's helped Cam learn the offense... since he's been signed to the Panthers, Anderson has been a positive.

    1 Pro Bowl as an alternate... 10-5 as a starter, 10-6 in games played, 29 TD's, 19 ints, 82.5% completion, rushed for 3 TD's

There are dozens of QB's I'd rather have then any of these guys, but it's not even close between Clausen & Anderson

Here's what you said in the thread announcing the Panthers signing Anderson:

Yep... at the time, I thought the signing sucked. I also thought he was brought in to be the starter. It's obvious that was never the plan. He was brought in because he knows the offense. Given the timeline for Newton, it was a good move.

I still think there were better options, but Anderson has been a positive... I don't think he's a top 32 QB in the league and should be a starter, but I don't think Clausen is a top 64 QB... he shouldn't even be a back-up. JMO

if we're being fair, Anderson takes a lot of deep shots, whereas Clausen was a dumpoff guy even for a rookie and still didn't have a high completion percentage.
And that's with me being a guy who defended the fuck out of Clausen. The weird thing is that they're two different type guys, Anderson's going to be erratic and gunning. But Clausen's not.

I'm not arguing Clausen isn't still full of potential but that last game was tough.

While Cam is a project, you can't seriously believe he isn't the best of the three to put out there. I know about the accuracy, footwork, etc.. But come on, Clausen while he has improved still has a pop gun arm and looks as shaky as a certain pilot from a certain movie in the pocket. DA is kinda Delhommish but doesn't have the ability Jake had to somehow pull a game out his ass. I wanted to somehow get Orton and draft AJ Green but I'm not so butthurt I can't see this kid has more potential in his pinky than these other two guys. I know, I know, he's not Aaron Rodgers or Peyton Manning; and theres not alot of bragging to fantasy homos about his stats but don't let that cloud your judgment. Is he any good, maybe, maybe not but no one here is any kind of QB guru, if they were they'd be employed as such. Dont give me stats and this guy or that guy. You have no clue. Let's see how he does for a few games at least mid way through before we harken for the days of Jimmy. I'm hopeful for the guy and if he sucks I'll be one of the people to say so but really look at what he can do instead of expecting instant gratification.

My impression of Clausen is that the best he could be is a backup QB in a west coast system. I hated that pick.

Then again, I don't know squat about quarterbacks. :dunce:
