Who impressed/Who fucked up (Bengals game)

uhh.........Mare had a good game

 

Defense looks like T total shit. Atleast the offense shows signs of "close but not quite there". I could see the offense getting better as the year goes on, but the D can't stop the run or the pass or anything in between.

 

Godfrey seemed to show up.

 

I'm not seeing the aggression that we were lead to expect.

 

Maybe they need to put Meeks back in charge of the defense. It looked better than this last year. At least they could keep contain most of the time.

 

Gamble is bad as usual, made one play on the fumble. Somebody needs to tell him he looks like a goofy college dork with one sleave. Geez.

Both O and D lines are awful. Godfrey gets run over worse than an old lady would out there.

Somebody needs to tell our line they are supposed to move forward and the overrated, way overpaid Gross and Kalil need to be reminded that just because they made the probowl in the past and get paid too much, they still are expected to actually block worth a shit.

Cam still can't help himself jump in the air most every dang throw. He's awfully inacurate. Clausen cant handle pressure, or pain.

Rivera ain't playing Anderson, because even as bad as he is, he makes the other two look really bad. Simply terrible. Sure, Cam can run, but that ain't gonna work all the time and he'll likely get injured being such a big target- he's not terribly fast, quick or jukie.

The lowly lowly awful bengals made us look like a HS team, and they had a rookie QB and #1 WR. I figured we'd look decent this game against them. I was mistaken. Boy was I mistaken.

Why did Hurney overpay all of our doods to stay? And they were 2-14 last year? WTF? Trade away pics for who? Edwards? Geez, what a doofus Hurney is.

How can the staff not have improved the O and D lines this offseason?

Otah is a bust. Why did Hurney draft Clausen again?

Some time if things don't turn around, how can the man keep his job?

Why is everyone (except maybe DW) who we've resigned over the past coupla years at inflated prices either injured and not playing, or playing like shit compared to their pay? WTF?

What a shitty performance that was last night. Even worse than last week. Wow.

 

Good thoughts, Coach. One thing you mentioned which stood out to me is that Newton gets yards on the ground, but he doesn't look explosive when he does it. That was just open space, not Cam being particularly fast. And when he tried to juke Clements to get more yardage, he looked more like a tight end than a running back, despite the announcers screaming otherwise.

Disagree with Brain about the offense looking close. Newton isn't anywhere close to being a competent NFL QB, the blocking has been shitty, and the receivers are either slow through cuts (most) or dropping the passes they should catch (Pilares). The running backs are the only ones who have looked pretty good.

 

McDermott's been a clown since he's been a DC. His own players ran him out. Still not sure why we hired him, but I'm not screaming about it anymore. It is what it is, and Foxy was right about that.

Thank God I've got a busy career now. If that fails in the future, I'll be able to pay more attention to the dreaded downfalls of our team.

Anyway, it's preseason, and I don't think we'll throw the ball 51 times in the regular season, I don't think we'll blitz carelessly and look as lost...so I'm not panicking yet.

However, what's sad, is that this was our "mock preparation" week, and we laid an egg. I was in awe with how many penalties we're having. I mean....just horrendous.

One thing to think about in the last few drafts is this, when it comes to Hurney:

Armanti Edwards and Dwayne Jarrett for second rounders...

91 for a first round draft pick, and we know how he plays the run...last night he was as ghastly as anybody I've ever seen playing his position.

If Hurney had his way, Clausen costs us this years number 1 overall. If he had his way.

I just think it's time we rethought the GM position.

Seeing 14 botch a punt, 91 blowing contain and letting the RBs get major yardage on the outside, and 2 throw checkdowns until he leaves with a scuff just deflated me.

And the defense fucking SUCKS.
