With second-year quarterback Jimmy Clausen questionable because of a sore elbow suffered at Miami, Anderson might draw the backup quarterback role after Newton handles the first three quarters.It's unlikely Anderson could play himself into significant regular-season territory, but the preseason is about answering questions.​

Honestly, I think Anderson gives us the best shot at winning, while throwing Cammy in for a few plays until he 'gets it' and improves his mechanics.

Anderson > Pickle, especially if the pickle ain't any part of the future.

 

Good grief.

Believe it or not, Anderson is worse because he takes too many stupid risks and turns the ball over. He's more experienced than Cam, but has the same issues with inaccuracy, and I just can't ever trust his judgment. It's a moot point, though, since Newton is starting regardless.

 

Yeah I would also say it's pretty much a done deal too, barring a Jake Delhomme-esque meltdown in on of the last 2 preseason games.

 

I don't know, I've seen Anderson play a bit. He's not awful in the accuracy dept overall and if given time, he's not awful at decision-making.

If Cam doesn't improve quick, even if he manages few turnovers in the preseason, once gameplanning starts, he'll turn into Jake by the second half of the first game.

But yeah, I imagine if cam is the future, they're gonna go ahead and throw him to the wolves. It'll either fuk him up or make him much better for next year.

Yeah, seriously. I'm not quite sure that I'd rather take any QB on any roster in the NFL than Anderson, but he's definitely in that conversation.

 

Well that's the thing for me with saying Anderson, it's not at all about whether or not Anderson sucks. I'd just rather not ruin the kid and would much rather put him in the best position to succeed, or at least give him half a chance. Wait a few games minimum, at least let the rest of the team learn the fucking offense (they haven't yet as far as I can tell). But yep it's probably moot.

 

I don't think anyone at this point would argue Newton doesn't give the team the best chance to win. Anderson sucks, was basically brought in to help Cam learn the playbook. Clausen doesn't have Cam's foot speed or arm strength and can't see over the line... if it wasn't for that, you could flip a coin for a starter.
