I watched and re-watched our first preseason game and as a fan I now realize just how boring our previous coaching staff was. Twice this weekend when the Giants faced 3rd and long they went to the draw and I thought, “There but by the grace of God go we.” I doubt we'll win significantly more this season (6-7 wins would be wonderful with this schedule) but at least every game will be a fight. Make no mistake I want us to win. But failing winning…I want to be entertained. This team and coaching staff seems to get that.

I made 6.5 million dollars last year. Again, I spent 9 years with the Panthers and I more than tripled my net worth over that time period. And I seamlessly went from one HC job to another.

This is all nice in the preseason but unless it translates into wins it won't mean anything. The potential of having a real QB on the roster is exciting though.

This alter ego thing or whatever it is, occasionally amusing when he worked here.

there were reasons to do that with Henning, Davidson, but it got done to death. I dunno. It's entirely possible that five years from now we could be talking about how desperately we want to stop gambling on offense and defense, but maybe not. Every coach has, in theory, a good methodology. Except for Chan Gailey, what the fuck is that shit?

Fox's system works. Every year that he had decent play from the QB he won. Hurney could never find a QB that was consistently good during those years. If Newton is a bust then I doubt Rivera has much success.

Fox's system works, but not done by Fox. He wasn't willing to cut bait when needed. Had he evolved the system over time he woulda been in position to be one of the "greats"

I guess the failure to develop a QB falls on both Fox and Hurney but I still think that is the key reason for his inconsistency and ultimately his leaving town.
