I mean, she's ok, was neat seeing her, but not a big deal.

Clausen got the underneath stuff because that's part of the design. One thing Coryell gets you is a little more space underneath, because you're dropping more. You wouldn't drop to 5 step depth for a WCO swing route, because you look there first; you look deep here, so you're ready for that. D may drop to depth until the QB stops dropping and that'll often be depth deeper than the shorter routes. Definitely wasn't man.

Or that's what I see anyway. May also just be generic defense that's trying not to worry hard about the guy they've seen in camp. As for the efficiency thing, Clausen still is that guy. He needs to work deeper but he looks the part a little bit more. Because of that, and him still seeming to play first most of the time, that's why I think he's a (short leashed) first stringer right now. I see reasons to go either way, but if a more confident Clausen can get good protection and he can be ordered to take a shot deep occasionally, he can succeed short or long term (the long term part's obviously not here).

It doesn't really matter to me which plays, other than that I do want to reserve Newton's ability to what he can do, not overwork him yet. If we push him as a starter too soon, we're risking some long term issues. I dunno, hard to say. He's got everything except shorter accuracy, which didn't look 'bad', just 'inconsistent'. I'm not unhappy with either at this point. I saw the Newton-Johnson play and Johnson made him earn that corner.

Great to see vision from the backs out of great endzone seats. I could watch everything from there, and loved the seats I could get for almost nothing against the scoreboards/jumbotron. DE/OL looked solid, hard to get a great feel for what I was seeing.
Otah really does give you limited options with that wingspan, if he gets off the ball. Run blocking with the ZBS is harder to get a feel without the back's decision making but there were definitely holes.

was inevitable, but a good transition. That guy's got ridiculous hands.
