what positives do you see? I don't see much better than Marshall here. Got benched a couple times down the stretch. I see a more expensive Munnerlyn, except Captain finally started playing the ball this year.

CB Asante Samuel too expensive for Panthers after recent spending spree.

Updating an earlier tweet, I spoke with a reliable source that tells me the Panthers are NOT interested in trading for CB Asante Samuel.

Finally a prudent decision for this offseason. They don't need to go trading any more picks.

The Marshall comparison makes no sense precisely because Marshall both gives up completions and gets burned deep repeatedly. Remember the link where he had the worst burn rate in the NFL last season? Meanwhile what I like about Rogers is that he doesn't get burned much because he doesn't take chances and jump routes. He's boring, but he's solid, and I'll take that from a corner. It's not ideal, since Josh Wilson would have been a lot better, but at this point the team is picking from leftovers.

fair enough. I just don't think he's good. He gets picked on a ton, not just a matter of being safe.

He's not good, but at this point my concern is that we don't end up with someone who undermines the whole defense by being a major weakness.

If samuel is too pricey then so is carlos rogers. Probably going to have to make do until final cuts when some old fart gets trimmed

I don't like Rogers, but why is he too pricey if Samuel is?

One is a stellar talent, the other is an average and aging one. So...explain?

Samuel would cost a draft pick, and has two years on a contract that pays him pretty well.
