I heard something somewhere about Samuel being on the market.

Also read somewhere that McD had trouble with some of the players last year, don't know if Samuel was part of that crew or not.

Samuel has familiarity. We can't very well give up a 4, with a 3 gone. We won't likely get him for a 5, and those cap numbers are high. This year's is somewhat reasonable for a starting corner, but the other two are tough.

Plus, I'm philosophically opposed to corners who gamble in coverage and don't like to tackle. I'd rather pay a lot less for Carlos Rogers, who gives up a lot more short and intermediate completions but doesn't kill you by jumping routes.

I agree, those are the things that Philly fans hated, but his interceptions certainly help negate those things. Carlos Rogers would be a better choice. Not as good, but available, and Carolina does not need to keep trading picks, especially with the state of the team. I'd highly doubt Samuel could be had for just a 4th round pick Magnus, Eagles FO doesn't tend to get played like that.

a trade just isn't plausible. If you're giving up that much for an over 30 guy with a big contract you can wait for him to be cut. It may happen. If not, and you want to spend, Clements.

I don't think Rogers is an upgrade. He's just a name we remember from being a first. There are worse things, but you're not getting that player that people thought he was 5 years ago.
edit - at this point maybe it won't matter because it'll be cheap

    Dan Connor is nearly "flawless."

No, he's a pretty solid player. His metrics are actually remarkably similar to Jonathan Joseph's, whose numbers were more disappointing than I would have expected.
