media suggests it's personal. stats suggest regardless of that, he gave up around 2 receptions a game and rarely got targeted. You could chalk targets up to the run issues, but then Marshall would have the same benefit.

he could've been better, and he didn't start that game because he walked out on a film session.

I am happy with Gamble. He gets paid a lot of money but good corners get paid a lot. It is the same deal with Gross. He is not anywhere near the best in the league but he is solid. At positions like LT and corner solid gets you big bucks.

I hope we let Marshall walk. With Munnerlyn and Hogan we should be OK without him.

there I disagree, in that I'm hoping for at least a guy with some experience that could play the outside when Munnerlyn's inside.

That would be better but it depends on who is available I guess. We do not want to overpay for another chump instead of overpaying Marshall. At least we know what we have in Marshall.

I had such high hopes for Marshall when he first came to Carolina. So much so that I was almost okay with Ken Lucas' departure.

But I think Marshall's extremely high view of himself got in the way of his actually making improvements on the field. There's faith, then there's disillusionment.

If you think you're "all that," then the tendency is to believe you don't have to work to stay that way. I don't mean to suggest that Marshall didn't work hard. He probably did. But to transcend the position takes a true knowledge of one's weaknesses working with a burning desire to overcome those weaknesses.

At this point in Marshall's career, he's not only not the best cornerback in the NFL, and thus not the highest paid player in the game (his stated goal upon entering the league), he's possibly not even starter material.

Lot of teams with bad corners. That will keep his price up.
