Overall, I'm pretty pleased with the draft, it wasn't a knock out, but, the talent at the top probably didn't have the knock out potential, so they went with the guy who "could" provide it. personally I would have gone Darius, but Cam sells tickets, and adds some media hype to a team in desperate need, lets give him time before we judge him. we have a new staff with a real OC and QB coach to develop him, hopefully put him in an offense that can take advantage of his skills.

They drafted their starting DT's, both seemingly good fits with some talent, based on the comments from Chico, their's going to be a lot of rotation on the D line, "keep them fresh" going into the 4th qtr. Hurney/new staff took advantage of the depth in the draft.

Hogan and Pilares are intriguing to me, the Panthers are suddenly no longer afraid to take prospects with "character issue".. see also, Cam Newton. it's a new day in Panther land. Hogan, has some REAL talent, going to watch him in detail if we ever get football.

Wilson, looks like a value pick, good for them, he can provide depth at a couple of positions and be a spark on kick coverage, has the talent to develop into a quality starter, great 6th round pick in my mind.

finished up with two versatile OL, hoping one of the two will fall into the starting RG spot, but both will contribute in a positive way.

I was scratching my head on Wilson at first. But then I thought that even if they re-sign Davis as expected, the guy hasn't played any meaningful football since 2009. God forbid he should go the way of Dan Morgan. But when that happened, thank God we had Beason.

Lots of reaches, so this is a draft of hope and prayer rather than expectation. It's possible that some of those gambles could work out, but the real damage was done with the Armanti trade.

Hope it all pans out. Newton has to turn out to be a solid pick, just has to. Maybe not a superstar but a guy who can make the throws when needed and be a real team leader. If he becomes superstar material I'd almost forgive Hurney (almost) for the Edwards deal.
