    Hope I'm wrong and he does well if we draft him. My only concern is if we do draft him and he tuens out to be worth a shit, how long until he departs to a larger market

    It certainly will be fun if Newton comes here and turns out to be a star. I've said I would like to be wrong, and hope I am. Only way I won't be happy is if I'm wrong, we pass, and he blows up. But then Hurney will be gone so that's a silver lining.

    There are plenty of reasons not to take him and a few of those do not require a scout's eye or access to private detective reports.

    His history off the field, much is well documented.

    His history on the field, or lack of it. Not playing in a pro style offense, not many reps, valid fears that he can't make the transition.

    The time it will take him to make the transition, likely significant, vs going another direction and getting help right away on the defensive side. We're in a division with very strong Qb play, it can be argued that countering with a great defense would be more effective.

    His agent, the financial consequences of being wrong will hurt the franchise for years, factoring in the bust rate of first round Qbs, makes it a huge gamble.

    We haven't proven to be a franchise that develops or identifies quality QBs. Maybe Chud and Shula will help in the developing side, unknown at this time.
