    So you guys think drafting mid-first-round talent and paying number 1 pick guaranteed money for him doesn't make you look like a jackass?

    Slide down to 7-8 and take the last guy you were considering with your 1st pick at 25 mil less? Sounds brilliant to me.

    I don't consider Dareus or Green to be mid round talent

    Not in this year's draft. No.

    It is not usual to consider DT at No. 1 overall. Last year was an exception.

    It is also not usual to consider WR at number one, or CB.

    This year is unusual. No doubt.

    No matter what the Panthers do unless they trade down for more picks they are settling. I don't think anyone disputes that fact.

    the trade down is by far my 1st choice but I don't have much hope of them finding a willing partner.

    We do this whoever we pick will still claim to be the #1 pick, and by that right expect #1 money. Same thing happened when Minnesota did it a few years back.
