It would be really hard to trade like that. It's not like if we give up our pick, we're slotted into the next pick. There's not guarantee that the teams behind us wouldn't knock their picks out while we're trying to work out the trade, and no team is going to trade with us for a "maybe" slot.

when the first overall pick's time would expire, if Denver picked instead, then the Bills could pick, and so on. You don't get another 15 mins.

No, lets become the joke of the NFL. Last years performance on the field as bad enough.

If were gonna take Newton, go ahead and do it and show some confidence in the pick, or whoever it is they want.

Start messing around and teams will rush up with their cards like both we and Baltimore did and well miss out on the guy we really want.

I dont buy all this we dont know who were gonna pick lark, they know.

Reading over Sorenson's article in today's disturber made me think about posting this question in this thread. I am not satisfied with the answers to the question.

    • So the Panthers don't have a trade partner to swap for more picks.
    • They don't want to pay $50 mil+ guaranteed to risk/reward Newton, DT Dareus, WR Green, CB Peterson.
    • They do let time expire then wait for the slot that they want to pick in and hand in their card.
Is this legit? Could they play it that way? Might they play it that way?

    Sure we can. Why not?

It would be beautiful sticking it to Denver too, lol. Getting our guy at 2nd...

BUt in reality, it would just make us look unsure about who we wound up drafting, it would make us look incompetent, and we'd have no way to try to trade it if we wanted to beyond that.
