In 20 yrs I'd much rather explain to my son why Tillman busts is in the hof, as opposed to any other player.

The war didn't need an NFL player. Sorry.

He volunteered to be in a fire fight to defend people he didn't know.

Actually people that can be in special ops are in high demand. The obesity rate in this country is terrible.

He wasn't a good player, and it sounds like he wasn't a particularly good soldier either. He should have stuck to his lot in life and made an impact from there. Leave it to the real heroes like your brother.

No one said that the war needed an NFL player...the fact of the matter is that he made his desicion to join the service at a time when the country was in need of the type of character that he demonstrated. Whether he killed, wounded or not is not the point.

And I dont think that him being in the HOF would diminish the importance of it. I am sure that if you were ask any member of the HOF, they would say that they would be proud to have him in

If Pat Tillman was a struggling arena football player, would that change your opinion? He still would have been a pro football player, and it's the Pro Football Hall of Fame, not the NFL Hall of Fame. Does he still get your vote?

You don't want every special teams mutant who's watched Armageddon too many times to start pulling the same stunt.
