Carson Palmer and the Bengals first pick #4 overall for our first pick #1 overall? If Palmer were on board for it I would definitely take it. That would let us draft a DT or a WR and then move Smith. I guess with the CBA where it is not trades will take place that that one makes a lot of sense. The Bengals could draft Newton or Gabbert and we could have a veteran QB.

Yes assuming Palmer's contract gets restructured

50 million over the next 3 years is pretty steep for a QB who hasn't had a rating >86 in the last 5 years.

no. Without rehashing the prior Palmer threads, that trade would have to come with a 2nd, a 3rd and 5th, or honestly I'd be as happy just trading down to get a 2 back, and signing the best vet.

picking at 4 most likely means only one defensive player is off the board, and all the WR are there if that's your thing. The only problem with that is it eventually transitioned from where it was obvious Denver was going to take Bowers, to now where it seems obvious it's Dareus, and he's who I'd want, much more than Fairley, Peterson, and all of those are better for us than a WR right now.

Agreed. You would think if the Panthers would float (if they haven't already) a rumor to flop picks in the top 5 for another teams second would garner some interest for a team that is in love with a particular QB or defensive player

If you trade for Palmer you can take a WR at #4 and then trade Smith for something. That would give us a young and deep WR corps. A DT would be great too. I just hope we do not stay at #1 and take a QB.

You can't negotiate with the picks until there's a CBA in place.
