will the dynamics change if there is a rookie scale? i would think the top picks would be worth more ... this year being a possible exception. if someone falls in love with Newton, they might be more willing to make a jump since there's not so high a financial risk?

Think best chance for that is the skins coming up to take our spot.

Shanny is dying for a QB.
The whole regime ismkicking themselves for not being more aggressive about getting cutler or Sanchez.

This scenario is VERY realistic, if any are.

I just don't think Newton is doing enough to make anyone fall in love with him. I was hoping he could be lights out at the combine, to give trade potential some momentum. The dumbass Redskins might be our best hope, but I don't want to trade back that far. We're stuck and will just have to bite the financial bullet. Doesn't mean we can't get someone good.

The problem is the lack of any real incentive to get up to #1. Even the teams who might want to move up can probably wait for #2, #3, or #4.

That is why you might put out a smokescreen that you plan to take Newton. If someone has a boner for him they might deal.

Rumor has Dallas really having a case of man-love for him. Trade him the number 1 for their 1st and 2nd. Then Romo would be pissed, trade him and their first for Cam

Romo and Dallas's first round pick sounds good to me as long as Romo is healthy and his contract is not a cap killer.
