Shock's 5 years younger than Gonzalez, who actually turned 35 today. I know there's a shitload of off-the-field baggage, and the injuries. But if he's passing physicals, and can get in with a guy (Chud) that knows how he's wired, it could work. Otherwise, it might not be a good idea.

I don't want Shockey... just being on the roster will keep us from upgrading to someone better, he won't stay healthy, and we'll be playing back-ups and right back to what have already. He's not worth the risk, and he ain't that fucking good anyway.

He's not even the best TE in New Orleans anymore, but I'd still take him over what we have. He's a very good blocker.

The knock on him when he was on the NYG was that he didn't want to block. Wasn't nearly as good as HE thought he was, dropped balls, and didn't like blocking...and he's old and injury prone. Buyer beware on that dude.

That was never true. He's a very good blocker, much better than Kevin Boss or any slug we have. I'd argue that he's now more of a threat in that area than as a receiver.

So maybe Smitty goes? Sounds like it wouldn't hurt the overall chemistry although one of the youg guys said playing with Smitty really helped him develope so maybe Smitty is better now?
