What about "I want to be the best QB in the league, and help my TEAM win Championships"?

For sure talking about being great doesn't make one great. But if you don't aspire to be great, then you will definitely never get there.

That would be a better way to word it, especially now with nothing going on, and every nuance being scrutinized, I agree.

intent is a lot more critical than nuance. Guy didn't mean to say something else, that seems to be the mindset.
Aspiring is great, but aspire to be the right thing.

If the CBA is resolved by then, with a Rookie wage scale, gambling on Newton would be a far less risky affair.

After a day, I can conclude that Newton has already proven himself to be a leader of men.

    That comment was still dumb.

There are only two players we should consider with the pick: Newton and AJ Green.

Fairley has bust written all over him. Also, excluding last years draft, I believe the bust rate for top 5 DT's is actually worse than top 5 QB's.

Bowers won't bust, but he won't be great. He looks like another Charles Johnson, Vonnie Holliday type DE. Solid, will make a Pro Bowl or two, but not great.

Peterson is already being projected to safety due to the dreaded "stiffness".

Both Newton and Green could potentially bust, but they (and probably Von Miller, but we don't play a 3-4) are the ones I see having the potential to be annual Pro Bowl players.

This doesn't even take into account that we need to inject talent on offense; the defense is not bad at all.

I like this guy's modesty. Him and John Fox together would have been quite something.
