With the lockout looming, this is a critical time for JC (and other players) to get time with the new staff. Starting March 4, there can be no contact between players and coaches. There are reports floating around that teams are planning for player-run practices. The structure for these can be worked out now between players and coaches.

I see it as a positive sign that he is here and is ready to get to work already. It doesn't mean he is going to be a better player, but you can see that he is willing to put in the work.

I agree with that. Anyone that is under contract should be in the facility. New coaching staffs usually get extra mini camp days and OTAs. Not being able to have any player/coach contact once the lockout starts will really put us behind in terms of putting the new systems in place.

you won't find articles on Thomas Davis flying home early because he's been there the whole time.

does it annoy/concern anyone else that he refers to practicing/studying as "grinding?"

No. But I bet it would bother you if he had referred to it as "practicing and studying".

I'm glad he's showing initiative, although I'm sure that has a lot to do with being scared that the Panthers might select another quarterback. I'm also skeptical about the motivation given the announcement on Twitter. Just get your butt here and get to work, you don't need to be running your own P.R. But yeah, the kid still has potential and could definitely develop into a solid starter. Tebow put in this kind of work his first off-season and was thus better prepared for his rookie season, but if Jimmy is sincere and follows through then it's good for both him and the team.

You also won't find Thomas Davis getting a degree from Notre Dame. Jimmy is going to need that degree soon. Smart move on his part.
