    He was the 2nd best QB, now the 1st. We're gonna take a QB I bet. Might as well get the best one available.

    Why not ? There's going to be an extended work stoppage ( so the new coach won't meet the team until July); The new coach is going to be some mediocre hack who's greatest asset is he is cheap; There's no one out there who's worthy of a # 1 pick.
    We're going to suck for a few years to come, so why not take a chance on a QB who has the potential to be a star a few years down the road ?
