I got the impression that JR isn't going to be as patient with the new guy as he was with Fox. Probably offer a much shorter deal to start with.

Most coaches in the playoffs were coordinators... True. And I am in favor of going DC or OC. But I think it is fair to point out that most coaches NOT in the playoffs were once coordinators too weren't they?

I hate that the Panthers put that out as justification, and none of you should buy it. Most head coaches in general were coordinators, so it's inescapable that most in the playoffs would be as well. The college to pro jump is arguably even more difficult for coaches than players, but Harbaugh is a guy with an extensive pro background. He knows what it is like, and he's more than capable of making that transition.

I tend to agree with that. But I would also tend to believe that he will not do so well if he's in charge of everything. He should just coach until he proves himself.

yep. leave hurney in charge of personnel decisions since he's got a history of doing well with that responsibility.

Carroll is the only one I know of - with a losing record this year.

that does have me a little worried. If the coach doesn't have ultimate power, that's preferred (Harbaugh or otherwise) but having no say seems too rigid. Also, without a coach's opinion we only have Hurney's, or Hurney is more manipulatable by JR. Neither seem preferable.

So what the hell did Fox do to screw up personnel for the next guy?
