Harbaugh had a DUI in 2005. It worries me that that, plus the Michigan controversy, turns off JR.

    From ESPN Insider:

The Detroit Free Press has a report from Michael Rosenberg indicating that it's "highly unlikely" that Harbaugh would take the University of Michigan job if it became available. If that's true, the NFL could be the likely destination, with the 49ers, Broncos, Panthers and possibly other teams eyeing him as their prize.

One of those teams might be the Miami Dolphins. Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network tweeted Tuesday morning to not rule the Dolphins out, as Harbaugh would play "attractive football," and could work well with GM Jeff Ireland and defensive coordinator Mike Nolan.

As ESPN AFC West blogger Bill Williamson notes, newly minted Broncos executive vice president John Elway was on hand for the Orange Bowl, and was poised to recruit Harbaugh to Denver. Mike Klis of the Denver Post posted an interesting hypothetical: if Elway can lure Harbaugh to Denver, would likely No. 1 pick Andrew Luck pull an Eli Manning (or a John Elway) move and refuse to play in Carolina, thus forcing a trade to Denver?
Over in San Francisco, there have been whispers that the team is trying to align itself with a GM that would be amenable to Harbaugh, with the leader in that regard being the NFL Network's Michael Lombardi, a known friend of the coach. Lombardi essentially quashed that rumor himself last week, though with no official GM hire yet, the door is obviously still open. ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter tweeted that the Niners are "doing a very effective job" trying to lure Harbaugh, and letting him hand-pick his GM would seem to be in line with that idea.

But he could also stay at Stanford, an idea that's gathered some steam over the past few days. The Cardinal have one of the nation's top recruiting classes coming in, and with such a pipeline of top talent, this may give Harbaugh pause in leaving Palo Alto.

    ---

ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter provided an update on the "Hunt for Harbaugh" situation Sunday morning, which can be found below.

During the "Football Night in America" broadcast Sunday night, Peter King said that he believes Harbaugh's decision will come by Wednesday, and that the coach is down to choosing between Michigan and the 49ers.

Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh -- the brother of the hottest head coaching candidate in the world -- indicated Monday that there is still a chance Jim would return to Stanford, per Aaron Wilson of National Football Post.
Last week, ESPN's John Clayton opined that the reason why the Mike Singletary was fired by the 49ers with just a week left in the season was to get a head start on hiring Harbaugh. Tim Kawakami of the San Jose Mercury News reports that Harbaugh is the team's "all-or-nothing guy right now," according to a source.

not sure why a dui would scare JR. He kept that dickhead steve smith for all these years fter all the shit he has done. kept moose and even brought him back after getting busted with the cronic. kept that worthless pos jarrett after one or two dui's. If a dui keeps harbaugh out of caarolina then jr needs to sell and check into a crazy clinic.

    Mike & Mike today:

Dilfer called Luck the best prospect since Elway, no flaws.

    Schefter pretty much concurs.

I'm normally gunshy about a QB at #1 but the only way this guy isn't worth it is if EVERYBODY is wrong. I hope this guy comes out and no forced trade nonsense.

edit: and on the DUI stuff, whatever happened with Fox in Oakland didn't stop his hire, it's been implied it was alcohol related.
