    RIP Fox era.

Last game I attended was Foxy's first. I sat with the PA announcer and we won our first game in a year on a defensive combo play by Morgan and Peppers, our 2 young stars. Del Rio gave someone a bear hug. Walls caught a TD from Peete.

That's the first of alot of great memories.

    Home?

Then you were with Jon Robinson, huh? That's another memory right there...the sad tale of Jon's descent into addiction and madness, and his departure from the PA job, stick in my mind. Brian Stickley has never really equalled Jon's quality as a PA announcer.

That was no descent, Jon's been like that since he was a kid. He just got caught by the press. He's never been any other way.

But yeah, he was clean that day. I miss him, too.

That game was the last one I wasn't able to see, along with part of the steelers game this year.

It was a good run. People will have anymosity against the guy but he played some pretty fucking solid ball until we pulled the rug out from under him. Hell, same for Seifert as much as people give him shit - JR goes young, doesn't commit to a coach, coach fails. Sounds familiar? I think this franchise has had far too many 7-9, 8-8 years, but excepting the years that JR meddled with his standing coach, our record has been pretty good.

Yeah, sorry...I guess what I meant by "descent" was "time when all the workarounds finally stopped working".

I was ready to see Seifert go but what you said is true. It is really not fair to a coach to do a roster purge and then fire him when the team struggles. Jerry has done it twice now.

Fox's time was the best run in franchise history. I hope we are not still saying this in twenty years.

i'm still trying to figure how pissed off i am that for the past 2 yrs foxy has had the rug pulled out from under him, that he felt like he had to ask assistants to find greener pastures... because of a playoff meltdown from jake no extension? wtf? its hard to even put into words how i feel about being so excited about panther football every year, every game, every day really, to find out about this. it's like finding out your gf cheated or something. its bullshit. the steelers wouldn't have fired, didn't fire cower, for shit like that, shit that was beyond foxy's control. its a bad feeling.

We also dont know the whole story. I have a feeling Fox also did some things - made some decisions - that failed completely. Just a hunch.

Seifert didn't handle it as well (though his team arguably stayed in more games). He was much more disconnected.

He somewhat did the opposite to Capers. Gave him the keys to everything - the GM role, the ability to spend a total of 3 first round picks and 2 3rds on a 3-man DL, the ability to give out almost $100 mil in contracts in 98 money.
