them, Baker, Smith are very good.

Guess there'll be no internal candidates, which is fine, no one has the ability to be that good, but you never knew if they'd try.

That's true...their units have both performed well and been bright spots in a dismal season.

What about Mills? He's sort of a special case...what's JR's plan for him?

I didn't think there would be...Skipper's old, Meeks is an unknown factor.

I sure hope they find a dynamic young assistant or coordinator to come in as HC, though...people like Morris and Payton in the NFCS have really set the example for what the Panthers need.

    Not sold on Lewis.

I would rather promote Meeks than bring in Lewis. I have been reading these stories that say Fox has been on his way out since the loss to Arizona in the playoffs. If that is true then why did they bring Meeks in?

As much as I 'd like to see Meeks and Skipper come back, I'd rather not have a head coach who is willing to have his staff forced on him.

Is the 3-4 a reason he fired the entire staff? Or is it customary for everyone to leave and then rehires follow.

It's not like Meeks was a hot commodity when we hired him, they got someone to fill out the staff and he's been better than expected.

This is the hope I have. Since they canned everyone, is this a sign we have someone in mind who demands his own staff ?

I hope so too, but we seem to content to bottom feed rather than going after the high profile prospects. However, we are in a unique situation, having the #1 pick and a need to draw him out. Nobody could do that like Harbaugh. THis is common knowledge, but the timing of this move is interesting. Why not Monday after the game Sunday? Why Friday?
