Yeah, I think it started with King, but now Fowler and a few hacks are jumping on board. Quoting people "close to Stanford Football", etc. I suppose my point is there is no time line for these comments. Luck has said things can change a lot...I think he is referring to Harbaugh's status.

I am under the impression that any changes would be in effect for the 2012 season.

maybe he's just repeating what the last high-profile qb out of stanford did...

maybe we shouldn't needlessly worry about it...

There's no way he's going to say anything other than he's coming back until after the Orange Bowl. Same thing with Harbaugh. I'd be suprised if either one of them was still at Stanford next season, but they're not going to fuck up their bowl game by throwing the fact that they're leaving out there. Wait until after they play, then start worrying about who might be saying that they're leaning towards staying or going.

nothing they say has any relevance until after they play their bowl game, imo. Its all lip service to keep everyone on the team focused on the Orance bowl. After that, their real thoughts will come out.

    The Family Meeting:

Oliver: Andrew, what's on your mind now that the Orange Bowl is history?
Andrew: Dad, I really like Stanford and I want that degree. I always finish what I start.
Oliver: You will be the number one pick. You will go to Carolina, a solid organization with a good owner if you come out. Nobody else knows the team that will pick them. Carolina is young and has a solid core. If you wait, who knows.
Andrew: I know. But I am not all about football. When I walk away from Stanford, my college days are over and I become a businessman.
Oliver: Playing a kids game and making millions doing it. Let's look at the best case and the worst scenarios if you return: Best--you return, win the Heisman trophy, enter the draft in 2012 as the #1 overall pick. A team like Cincinnati or Buffalo picks first. Worst case: You get injured and never play again. Barring injury, you return to a depleted Stanford team and Harbaugh is gone. People call you Jake Locker II because your numbers drop.
Andrew: What if there is no CBA and I have to sit out a year?
Oliver: Go back to Stanford as a student until it is resolved.
Andrew: Money isn't that important to me, but how much are we talking?
Oliver: Play another year at Stanford, you make $50K (tuition costs). Play next year in the NFL, you will make $5 million in base salary and get a signing bonus of millions more. That is under a rookie cap. If you can sign for Bradford money, you will have $45 million guaranteed.
Andrew: I really like college and my major. But I don't really see next year being as great as this one was since Harbaugh is leaving. The NFL will be there in 2012, but waiting is certain to cost me money even if my stock doesn't drop because I will be playing for free next season vs. playing for a salary. If my stock drops, I will look like an idiot and regret it for the rest of my life. What would you do Dad?
Oliver: It is not my decision.

    Facts:
Harbaugh was offered a contract from Stanford and has not signed it.
Luck never denied interest in the NFL, and said he was waiting to see what Harbaugh was doing.
Harbaugh, like Luck, will never have stock so high. The jobs he wants will not be there next season. Staying means a long-term contract at SU. He will interview as early as next week. Look for Rod to be fired at Michigan Monday.
Luck wants to win one for his teammates
There is nothing to suggest that he has made his decision to return. There is evidence to suggest he wants to make sure the party at Stanford is over before coming out. Basically, If Harbaugh is leaving, Luck is going pro.
