There are lots of teams that were not competitive during those years. I will take 7-9 with a 12-4 mixed in every couple of years over what a lot of teams have had.

A few teams off the top of my head who have not done as well as we have the past few years:

    Redskins
    Cowboys
    Packers
    Vikings
    Lions
    Rams
    49ers
    Cardinals
    Bucs
    Raiders
    Broncos
    Chiefs
    Browns
    Bengals
    Jags
    Texans
    Bills
    Jets
    Dolphins

There are a few receivers that haven't caught a ball either, but did that make you want to stick with Jarrett?

In 8 years, Fox has had 3 winning seasons, or season above .500.

    In Comparison:

Dallas- Wade Phillips had not finished .500 or lower and was released as head coach.

Green Bay- In comparison to Fox's 3 seasons above .500, Green Bay has only had 3 losing season of .500 or less with one of those 3 being .500.

Vikings have 4 of their 8 seasons over .500 compared to Fox's 3.

Rams have one winning season and 2 .500 in Fox's tenure.

49ers have one winning season and two at .500 in Fox's tenure.

Cardinals have 2 winning seasons in Fox's tenure.

Bucaneers have 5 winning seasons and a superbowl win during Fox's tenure.

Do I need to go on? 3 out of 8 winning seasons does not make him an elite coach. If the goal is not to have as bad a season as other teams, that is fine. But the goal of a coach should be on winning season, not how good the losing ones were.

31 other teams have winning records every year. This is bullshit, Fox.

Was Gruden really 57-55 while at Tampa Bay?
I don`t remember Keyshawn getting in Fox`s grill like he did Gruden`s. Maybe if he had stayed one more year?

So, that is 1/3rd of the time he has a winning season. I think I will go tell my supervisor at work, " Hey guy, I am going to do 1/3rd of my work well, and the rest of it I will just blow off." I love Fox and I don't totally hold this year against him, because he obviously got screwed by the Big Cat with going cheap due to the looming CBA. However, I still can't forget that one and done in the playoffs and the following terrible start to last season, followed by all of this. I still think the best thing for this team would be a new HC and a new GM. I wish we would have kept Bill Pollian, things would have worked out differently I bet.

I do not judge success solely on having a winning record. I would rather have 3 of 8 and go to the superbowl and a NFCCG in two of those three seasons than to have had 8 straight 9-7 seasons where we missed the playoffs or got beat in the first round every year.

I also place some weight on not having really bad seasons. 7-9 or 8-8 is a lot better than 2-14, as we now can see first hand.

Counting the superbowl Fox is 5-3 in the playoffs. That is very solid.
