i don't think anyone is advocating that we "deliberately" lose, just that we don't try too hard to win. please don't rush guys back from injuries (if they have a hanging toenail don't bandage them up, put them on IR) or sign some vet QB that would give you a better chance (instead sign a diaper changer) or make drastic changes to game plans that have shown little success (you just keep working at what's been unsuccessful for the entire season until you get it right). you keep things simple so that you don't overwhelm your young players or confuse the opposing teams. you teach your young QBs to not take risks so that you can have a "chance" to win (hehe) and eliminate as much as possible that they get the odd notion to actually try to complete a pass downfield and win a game. better to chuck it into the stands and lose than risk an INT. you might even bench a frustrated starter or two to ensure everyone is playing down to your expectations. simple enough. i wouldn't ask Kasay to purposely "miss" but i might ask Clausen to run plays that have little chance of success other than to lose yardage. if we miraclously make a play (linemen block, QB makes the right decision and delivers the ball and the WR actually catches it and we don't somehow manage to screw all that up with a penalty) well then i can only hope for devine intervention to prevent the ball going thru the goalpost or at least help our competition for the #1 to win also. it's not a lot to ask for a dyinghard fan.

again, this is all in jest.

This...and though I don't like losing, the highest draft pick we can get for the future and beyond is certainly a necesity- so I'm ok with losing the rest of the season; however, I'd like to see us play hard, and very well and lose in close games.

I will say, the thing I'm looking most forward to is getting rid of JD. Asside from the running game success in spite of him, I've really hated our O since we got rid of Henning. And I didn't like it a whole lot then- though I'd welcome his O about now considering what we've done under JD.

Interpreting the latter leads to people twisting things into the former.

For me its like sods law, I want to win but damned if its gonna actually happen. Just like getting that feeling Kasay was gonna miss last week. You cant help but chuckle and try to find the positive. As a fan thats looking toward the draft and what a top 3 pick will bring.

But in house its different, id never advocate losing and not competing. Stop challenging players and you lose the team. You dont sacrifice the team for one player ie the #1 pick.
Were still a young team and there are guys that that still need plenty of quality reps for next year. If Jimmy, LaFell and Gettis improve we'll be the better for it next year. If coaches and players start mailing it in it just makes things worse for next year, more doubts more questions.

A football franchise's long term goal is to be successful and win as many future games as possible. If losing one now equals winning more than one tomorrow..... You can't equate single game strategy with long term goals.

Not sure if anyone is losing games just to be losing and getting the #1 pick

But in sports just as in the work place , People will be as good as their leadership leads them to be

Sure some will always go above and beyond

But most will only put forth the effort that is reflected by leadership

Fox has already wrote off season and has been in the media saying off seasons decesions were not on him .

As a player ,why take chances in a season that is a wash?
You get paid the same !

Get a nick in a game over play it, and sit out the game or take a few weeks off

Winning teams players sacrifice health and everything to be on that field
Losing teams players take more time off to help extend their N F L lives

New coach new attitude next season
As a player one wants to be healthy and on board day one .

I would get extreme satisfaction out of beating Seattle, and/or Atlanta, or any other game this season. Sorry, I don't really give a shit about draft picks, I'd rather have some W's. We usually fuck the draft picks up anyway.

Hell yea, we'd take cam, but has he said he wasn't going to do his senior year at college yet? I figure he's either going to jail or NFL.....lol,,,,but haven't heard anyone say if he's made that decision or not.
