Here's the thing about Luck. He may be the best in the draft, but he's not the only guy out there. If we don't land the guy and have a solid vet plus existing youth it's still an upgrade.

Tampa is doing with a quarterback whom many would consider elite.

I never said Foxy wants to mail it in. I know he wants to win. He just can't. Honestly, looking back on it, he has been a pretty average guy here. He IS good in December though, and makes a lot of late runs, and I think that makes a lot of people forgive him, because we end a lot of shitty seasons on good notes. That just isn't good enough for me anymore.

They`ve been trying to win all year and have found out that they suck at it.
There is no reward for this season. This season has been an epic fail on a grand scale.
Its been on defcon 4 since the draft with the Edwards decision, the no scoring during preseason, the no scoring during the year. Our only win was over another epic fail team by what, 3 points.
What can possibly happen to this team to make any reward seem likely? Even if they win out the rest of their games , this will still be a year to forget.
So you can rah-rah all you want it won`t matter one little bit about how some of us feel.

I think you go to Clausen and say we are going to try our best to win some games down the stretch. You are going to have a lot to say about whether we get that done or not. If we fail to win any games then we have the number one pick and are going to be looking at Luck. If you win some games for us then we probably pick later and do not have a shot at Luck. It is basically up to you whether or not you are the future for us at QB.

well...you do really, and to your credit you have had them out from the start. and that's fine.

as for hating losing, you might want to turn it down a notch. stuff like this:

Leaning over on the sofa and allowing the next five opponents to give us the business will be much more rewarding for the forward progress of this franchise than winning games.

makes it look like you take a bad football team doing what they are supposed to do, lose, a little too close to heart.

they can't score. they can barely get first downs. no passing or running game to dictate tempo. the defense gets no pressure. gives up scores like there's no tomorrow. players are dodging practice. the owner is stone silent. the coach is glib and beaten. but yet some how, christmas magic i suppose, the miracle on mint street is about to begin it's run. and no, this isn't a prediciton of them quitting or mailing it in or tanking. it's much the same as it has been since august. they aren't good enough to win.

I certainly don't hope we lose the next 5 games, but I'd rather have the draft position than a couple of feel good wins. Being at the top of the order doesn't just go for the first round, and the further you get into the draft the more I'd like to have higher picks.
