Oh yeah I forgot, the momentum from winning those late games last year really helped this year.

Time to rebuild- bring on Luck. Becoming way too familiar to play strong in December after blowing up in Oct-Nov. We need meaningful football in December. Each player needs to be put on notice is job is on the line. Play hard or go home.

    .

However, if Clausen turns out to be all that, I would want us to trade out, and gather picks. We need them...badly.

Yes, you guys are right. I take it back.

Leaning over on the sofa and allowing the next five opponents to give us the business will be much more rewarding for the forward progress of this franchise than winning games.

    Thanks for clarifying.

    You're such a hardcore fanz!11.

No one suggested that that I can see. But all your posturing and super hard dick cheerleader shit is really transparent, and makes no sense. You've been all reminding us how you're still a fanz through the hard season a few times this year, and so I think we got it.

We'll play to win. We have all year.

But I wouldn't be disappointed to see us show improvement, but finish with the 1st overall, if it means taking someone who can come in and make a significant impact on the franchise for the next decade and more, rather than a few fucking wins in a lost fucking season, so we can all feel a little better for the short term, and FEEL LIYK HARDCORZ FANS!1

So, the logic here is "let's play better, improve, but lose out to seal the #1 pick, in the event that we need to draft another QB?"

Take your Zoloft and relax. I'm not uber-fan, but I'm also not comfortable watching this team lose a bunch of fucking games. I think, personally, the franchise gains more by winning out with the youth we have invested in since 2007 and being content with a top-10 pick in the draft, vs. racing Buffalo and Natti to the finish line for the Andrew Luck sweepstakes.

It's very simple, and it will all work out, by default: if Clausen plays well down the stretch, we'll probably win some games. If we win some games, as a result of Clausen playing well, we not only will not have the top pick in the draft, but we will probably already have our starting QB on the roster.

Being a realist, I understand that if the team continues to lose, and Clausen retreats and plays poorly, then yes, you will get your #1 pick and your QB from Stanford.

This year is an exception to almost everything. I'd much rather have guys who try now than reform quitters.

I'm relaxed, I just thought your patronizing post to make you look like SUPERFAN!!!1111 was fairly transparent.

If I have to come out and say...I hope we show moderate improvement from players, but still tank so we get our QB or trade down..then yes, I'll swallow the pill and say it. Yep.

I hope Clausen plays well, and we can trade that pick. If he doesn't, I hope we get a top QB in the mold of ATL or St. Louis, because we're in a division full of elite QBs, and I want to compete. All these shit from you like...."well, we don't need an elite QB to compete!" is fine and all, but the top teams seem to have them. And I want to be that. I'm tired of leaning on solid. You seem to be in love with it, well I'm not. This season is lost. Nothing can come of it. All this "momentum" shit? Crap.

We're going to start over with an entirely new coaching staff next year. And momentum from one season into the next is a fucking myth. If you want moral victories, that's fine. If we win, I will love it. I won't shit and cry about losing draft position, because I love winning, and last week's game was awesome, because we got a whiff. But realistically, we at least stand to gain from this miserable year with a higher pick, and I hope we can at least reap the reward next year. If it's a signal caller that can rock our worlds for the next decade and a half? Great. If it's a trade down, that nets us a few more high picks, and some young leaders and DL to help us get what we need for the new staff to compete in a NASTY division? Then I'm up for that too.

Not sure if you noticed, but the NFCS might be the strongest division in football again. And we suck. We're going to need collateral next year to gain momentum going into the year...ya know...like good players and shit...

Your point about the NFC South is well taken, but remember that in 2009, Tampa was one of the worst teams in football in terms of, well, everything. They're now competing for a wildcard spot. Atlanta barely squeaked out a winning season, and missed the playoffs.

I think you can look to a lot of things about the way this entire offseason, preseason, and season has been managed by not only the owner, but the head coach and his staff, and say "well, it was doomed to be fucked."

We did not go into camp with a veteran QB, Smith healthy, Otah healthy, or any veterans at WR. Turns out, the need at WR was somewhat overblown, but 2010 was not Richardson's most aggressive effort, and there's a business reason behind it--one that I can actually get down with, as long as the CBA gets done, and we hire a solid staff while allowing Hurney to write some checks to some talented veterans.

In hindsight, I still think one of the biggest mistakes they made was paying Peppers over $1mil a game in 2009, with limited returns. Also, the Delhomme contract was horrid. They waited one year too late to blow it up, which is typical of Fox.

I've seen nothing to indicate that any QB that would be available in this year's draft will be the mental/physical/leadership equivalent to Matt Ryan, Josh Freeman or Drew Brees.

Solid doesn't cut it, and it's probably a good idea not to characterize my viewpoint. I'll take care of that.

People much wiser than us will ultimately decide how to spend that draft pick. All I am saying is the team is playing better football, and Fox--despite popular belief--wants to win out. He's good in December, and there are games on the schedule that are winnable.

So while we're all sitting around decorating the house for the 2011 Draft Party, we might want to lay back, chill out and evaluate what we have and see if it evolves into something good.

Mark Sanchez is better this year, no question, but he was terrible last season, and yet, his team was one bad half away from playing in the Super Bowl.
