JR wont hire a coach until the CBA is settled.

Oh yeah JR even fired his sons so he wouldn't have to pay them in a lockout year. The only expense he'll have is the ground lease on the stadium property.

yeah I assume Hurney & Morrison will handle the draft and any offseason activities...

what I wonder is, if there's a draft, and then there's no season, do we draft in the same order the following year?

I doubt we miss the 2011 season. There is just too much money to be made for the owners and players for them not to come to some sort of agreement.

If there is no season in 2011 I would just as soon we not hire a coach. We might as well wait and see who shakes loose.

I think it's possible a coach is hired if a CBA isn't signed but is likely. He'd know if things are likely. Would hate to be left out in the cold, if others start moving.

I think an interim HC or two might get the boot in that case - "you're our guy...oh, the CBA is in? OK, we need that office cleared out, thanks."

that he'd wait for the CBA while other teams hire coaches?

he's been posturing that there'll be a lockout for years. He made decisions to start completely over this year partially on that. I don't think he'll bend as easily as most.

Which works for most things, but if someone else wants his guy, it puts him in an awkward position.

Then again he's shrewd, he could have his guy in waiting.

I would think we would hire a coach long before the draft. Our new coach is going to want serious input on our super duper # 1 pick.

Also, wouldn't the # 1 pick be an extra lure to get one of the better coaching names out there ?
