He's a bad head coach, but I wouldn't go so far as to call him a cancer. The man's a gifted coordinator, but just doesn't have the skill set to be the alpha male.

I only know of a couple guys in the NFL who are their own defensive coordinator, and none of them are Bill Belichick. I think that's worth nothing, because if anyone would do it if it were a good idea, it's that ratty hooded ************ right there.

So, anyone who does it, is an idiot.
Does Raheem still call his own? I guess if you're Tampa 2, it's not that hard to call (unless you're trying to sabotage yourself with overload blitzes into screen play).

He doesn't have a DC listed, so it would appear he's doing both. That would've made sense last year, considering how he got the HC job. But to continue doing that seems a bit counterproductive and unnecessary. It's not like there aren't other guys in the league who don't know how to run the Tampa-2, and do it well.

I understood Belichick was running the defense. Is that not the case?

Most of those guys don't do shit during an actual game, except pace back and forth for the cameras. They might as well call a few plays every once in a while.

    I didn't know Rex did.

The thing about that - and I don't like HCs that are operative, fulltime OCs as well - you need perspective. Micromanagers more often fail than not, or neglect the other side completely to the point where, like Tampa with Gruden, their loyalty is to their coordinator.

Similarly, with Gruden, Capers, and plenty of others, I find no benefit to guys who sleep at the stadium every night and spend their waking hours with tape. Again, perspective. You work hard but if you can't delegate you won't be around all that long.
