Cleveland, naturally, but Mangenius might just push that shit to 10-6 if he's not careful. They have a good rookie QB, and managing him very well.

Speaking of which: put Clausen in that system, and put McCoy in this one, and what do you get? No change to either team's record.

agreement with davew... mcnabb & boldin would have at least give this team a chance at winning... even if we're 3-5, the illusion of "going young but still trying to win games" would be there

I would have been in favor of targeting a QB with at least a full season worth of starts (Leftwich, Campbell, any of them). There's a domino effect somewhere with this offense. One piece is shitting itself so bad that it's stinking up the rest of the joint.

Honestly, I can't decide who started the domino effect: QB/OL/WR. But it came from one of those three position sets, and it's clear that all three need a good tune-up.

    I'm not a Housh fan--he's a malcontent on a higher-level than Owens/Smith/Moss. Seriously.

McNabb would have been very neat, but I have yet to see him play football commiserate with his weekly paycheck.

You can't run your team like the fucking Dollar Tree--I get that. But you do have to make wise investments. Housh/McNabb would not have been wise, in any season, given their age and current production. Boldin--I would have been cool with that, but I believe he's missed more games than many elite WR's have since 2007. Not saying he's not tough--but he's been out with a garden variety of problems, and is not always known as a warm and fuzzy dude.

    John Fox.

Unless we believe Dan Henning (an OC I actually like) would have this unit functioning at a higher-level.

No, there are problems that go beyond coaching. I hate Jeff Davidson as an OC, trust me. You don't have to sell me on it.

Can I bring up the PASSHUN argument again? Ok, cool: there's none of it. The team is fucking flat, and that goes for the head coach. I don't need him running around like Pete Carroll, but I swear, every time they cut to Fox on Sunday, Skipper was the only fucker clapping, encouraging, COACHING his players. I'm sure Baker was too, and despite Meeks' apparent inability to talk, he looks like he has his shit together.

Fox looks like a disinterested husband stuck at a shitty-ass wedding reception for a friend of his wife's.

Ater the money the gave Jake, getting McNabb should have seemed like a steal.

I mean, sure, that's a valid point. But it doesn't mean you do it.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Fox was the one most aggressively pushing for Jake's return, and since Fox treats some of his players more like friends than he does employees, he had incentive to do everything he could to hook Jake up for life, reset the offense with a new QB coach, and get Jake back on track with an emphasis on fundamentals.

That failed, miserably. Jake is done. The fact that Fox, nor Hurney, could not recognize it and make alternative plans speaks to the need for alterations in both departments. I talked to my brother about Jake the other night, and he reminded me about the Oakland game in 2008, where we pretty much choked a bitch across the board, if not for Jake's 3 horrific interceptions. The fact that Carolina ranked 32nd in the NFL in pass attempts in 2008, and yet Delhomme still found it in him to throw 17 interceptions in 17 games, including 6 fumbles in the pocket, including the number of times Smith/Moose had to rescue him with amazing catches from poorly thrown passes--those are remarkable factoids.

I'll never forget the pass Jake threw vs. the Giants in 2008. Deep ball to Moose where it was actually thrown perfectly, five yards in front of 87 to Aaron Ross. If Ross wasn't a complete shitbag, he would have fielded an easy INT. Instead, Moose bailed Jake's cajun ass out with a great catch by simply waiting on the ball to fall through the defender's hands. In essense: the ball was underthrown by at least 15 yards. Fuck the wind, you're a fucking pro. Make that throw, you cunt.

But, no, Coach Fox is a top-5 coach. Pay the man.

$23 mil for two whole wins. Yeah, that's a good move.

What makes any of you think that Boldin would have come here? Especially for the same compensation he got from Baltimore. Remember that while he was traded, he still held some power in the deal because any team that was willing to trade for him wanted a long term deal in place. He wasn't going to sign here with Matt Moore as the QB and a lame duck coach. It just wasn't going to happen.

And while McNabb would have been better than anything we have, he was benched in the two minute drill last weekend for fucking Rex Grossman. What does that tell you? If that is your $12 mil, do you pull the trigger? I certainly don't.

    pep got like $20m...

Besides I said even @ 3-5, it would have at least created the illusion they were trying to win...

we'll never know, but we'd be a completely different team... & maybe we don't waste draft picks on Clausen & Armanti Edwards
