look at Kansas City as an example of turning a team around too
they hire a football guy to run things and sit back and watch him go.

we got Gantt with math skills in charge of things

Jerry promised us a Super Bowl. We're in our 16th season. To put that into it's proper window, Bill Cowher coached the Steelers for 14 seasons alone before he won a Super Bowl.

Richardson's franchise, in 16 years, has been to the NFC Title Game 3 times (once every 5 years, approx). The team has won six playoff games since 1996. Dallas, over that same span, has won a playoff game once. Washington has two playoff wins in the last 16 years. Neither franchise has appeared in a conference title game over that span.

Funny. That piece of shit owner, despite all the turnover, murders, mayhem, mishaps, unhappy PSL owners--has sent his team to the NFC Title Game more times than 14 other NFC teams in the past 16 years. The Eagles have appeared in five, and got their asses handed to them by Carolina in one of those five.

Now, if you want to debate ticket price increases during a recession, or any of the Charlotte "inside baseball" stuff, it's not my bag. I go, when we're not this bad, to about 4-5 games per year, usually buy the tix on the street, and usually have a damn good time, especially if we win.

The stadium is nice--probably will become obsolete in another decade, but it's better than 75% of the other stadiums out there. I guess I never had that fire in my belly, because I was in high school when the team started playing games, and never invested in a PSL since then. So, my attachment to the team is as a big fan who wants to see them win a Super Bowl, not as a "shareholder" in the operation.

I don't think it's far-fetched. We were a bad kickoff and a blown coverage on a 2nd and 20 away from overtime in SB38, and we have knocked on the door of the Super Bowl two other times. You keep putting yourself in situations to get in the tournament, it will eventually happen.

Shit, the fucking Saints won it, and the Cardinals should have. They have, probably, two of the most historically hated owners in the business.

Fixing the OL would go a long way to fixing this team. Since they doesn't look like a OLman that is worthy of a top three pick here's hoping a rookie salary cap is in place so we can trade down and take a Nate Solder or Derek Sherrod or address the DT with a Nick Fairley. Dallas is probably thinking the same thing as their O-line is equally shitty

    Just so I am clear:

As a fan, I don't think that two cracks at a Super Bowl berth per decade, while probably above NFC average, should be good enough. Nor do I think JR, despite his wealth, sits back and laughs about fucking over good people by promising a Super Bowl title and failing to deliver in his first 16 years.

Fox--again--would love to keep him, get him ballin' with a better, more talent-aware GM, and go the distance under his guidance. But I have to admit a slight amount of disgust in Fox's demands. His agent, Bob Lamonte, represents some big names, and he's driving it all. But if Fox truly enjoyed the city, the culture, and could accept the fact that 6 MIL/Year is precisely what he is worth until another playoff run went down, he would have signed a very fair compensation package and the entire landscape of the 2010 season would have been far different.

Jerry went cheap to preserve for 2011. He wants to win, and he wants his next HC and staff to have what they need (WCO, 3-4, whatever the change may be schematically) to come in and win quickly.

Building a 3-4, by the way, isn't that fucking hard. It would mean cutting a few guys we have, making guys like Beason fit, and finding AT LEAST one pure two-gap DE and a pure NT (perhaps you draft nerds can field this one).

It's contrary to the initial post in this thread, but with the Giants playoff-bound, Coughlin is safe. Norv is going to get his team competitive enough to keep his job, it appears. Everybody--even my grandmother--is reporting Cowher is not going to Dallas.

The only reason anyone has said Cowher would not take the Carolina job is purely financial. Nobody believes JR will pay Cowher what he will command. I don't know what JR is thinking, but I will tell you this: Cowher, with the right staff, would be worth top-5 money. It's about winning, first and foremost, but it's also about marketing.

Jerry said it back when he fired Seifert: THE ENERGY HAS BEEN SUCKED OUT OF THE STADIUM.

The chin's presence alone, with all the local Steeler fans + his NC State roots + the fact that he lives like a couple hours away from uptown Charlotte just still makes too much sense to me.

But, again, it's Jerry's money. Well, actually, it's Dave W's money. Lol.

I thought Cowher has said (or at least made it known) that he doesn't want to get stuck in a rebuilding project specifically he wants a franchise QB in place. I could see a hurdle there.

Missed that comment, but don't doubt it.

Fucker sure is picky. That probably limits his available options down to, well, none. Guess he can sit on that CBS money for another year.
