And getting back to our OLine issues. Tampa has six sacks in eight games this year. Four of them came against us in week two. That is just awesome!

If I were going to hire a new GM/president of ops, or whatever, it would not be Parcells. He's made Miami very average, loading the team with his friends, and his type of players. Bobby Carpenter? Are you serious? I don't want players coming to the Panthers as a cash in a favor for his old player buddies.

Miami is solidly coached, but they have some major issues.

I also don't want to wonder when he's going to pick his things up and leave after a season or two, and have us search all over again.

My bad, I didnt know you knew boldin and housh. Housh may not be great but at least defenses have to cover the guy. We have Steve Smith and bunch of fucking reject window lickers. I doubt the Panthers even made an attempt at either.

Sorry my numbers were off, it was a complete guess.

Richardson could have spent 23.2 mil on these 2 guys and kept the fans from wanting to hang him...oh well, fuck him. He deserves every bit of what he is getting now

I DO have a feeling LaFell is going to grow to be a more explosive and better overall receiver than Gettis is.

I am not sure what the first part of that means, but whatever. I just told you though, Housh was NEVER coming here. He could pick where he wanted and that team merely needed to pay him vet minimum. At that point in the season, he was NOT going to come here. The panthers could have promised to have every Top Cat get on their knees and blow him every day...he was still not coming here.

I know you are pissed at JR for this season. But it's not your $23 million. If that's the way you feel about it, go pull for the Steelers.

BTW, David Gettis (aka window licker #1) has basically twice the production of TJH this year.

Edit to add: It wouldn't matter if McNabb was back there...he would running for his life behind that swiss cheeze OLine that we have and we still wouldn't have a fucking running game either.

What exactly is he getting now? Your insane death wish babbling? I think he can handle that.

    Fair enough on Bobby Carpenter.

All I know is when Jones hired him in 2003, he took his team, led by Quincy Carter at QB, to the playoffs. Didn't end particularly well, but the one-year turnaround was impressive. He didn't win any playoff games in Dallas, but he got the team competitive again, made a strong call with Romo (a guy he had liked from the start, and a QB I would gladly accept on my roster), and handed the keys off to his buddy Wade, who took Bill's product (most of which was good, young draftees on defense via-Parcells) and won 12 or 13 games.

Miami was 1-15 in 2007. Their lone win was a miracle, almost fluke vs. Balitmore (not the good Ravens--the ones that went 5-11). Their point differential was, um, yea: -170. Perspective: the 2001 Carolina Panthers had a -157 differential. Yes, they were that bad--perhaps worse.

Well, they hire Parcells, and then Parcells hires some fatass with tinted glasses from his staff in Dallas. Nobody liked that move at the time. NOBODY.

Just so happens that the Dolphins went from 1-15 to 11-5, winning a divisional title (yep, Brady was out, understand that, but they Pats were still 11-5). Now, where are the Phins now? Not in first place, but miles ahead of many teams in terms of competitiveness (particularly on the road).

Here's the Parcells factor. Where it was felt:

2007 Dolphins: -7 in turnover ratio (22nd in NFL)
2008 Dolphins: +18 in turnover ratio (1st in NFL)

So, for every Bobby Carpenter, there's been a 2008 Dolphins, or 2003 Cowboys, or 1997 Jets, or 1994 Patriots or 1984 Giants. All examples of 1-2 year turnarounds of teams that were not just bad, historically bad.

We are now one of those historically-bad teams.

Not here to say Bill Parcells, and the money he will command, is the only person who can make things functional around there again, but he's available, and for all the talk of his age, he's 4 years older than our old pal Bill Polian.

I mean, I'd hit it, but I don't write that check, so we'll see.

Sometimes, the most obvious moves (even if it costs you money) are the safest and best ones.

Again, JR is not spending for 2010. Never did. We can debate his reasoning all day, but I slice it up:

80%: preparation for operational spending in 2011 for new regime/needs
    20%: preparation for labor issues

Hell, for all the Cowher-lovers, you realize that Cowher will probably want to employ a 3-4. He will also want to employ a fat wallet. So, dumping money into--yes--a throw away season would have been a clusterfuck.

Also, take money out of it. Look at Terrell Owens. He's not only producing more results than any WR in the NFL right now, but he's doing it with a QB who has gone semi-Jake, no pass protection and an overall team, much like ours, that has a lame-duck coach and a ton of holes.

We never took chances on guys like Owens because of one man: John Fox. Jerry gunshy? I'm sure, given the freakish string of events from 97-01. But Fox has shown me an absolute lack of command, and almost fear, when it comes to taking on a player with any history of being a problem. He would rather have a team of 53 Jordan Senn's than an occasional diva that he will actually have to manage.

Well, except for the devil he knows--the one that wears 89 and occasionally punches innocent teammates because he's not happy.

I'll just come out and say it: Fox is a conservative pussy, in terms of his game plans, schematics and personnel suggestions.

Funny. I remember the Keyshawn presser. Without Fox in the room.

    Funny.

i dont have a dime invested in the steelers. I could care less if they never won another game...or any other team.

my point is, the panthers took a team that didnt make the playoffs and basically stood pat with it. Did nothing to get better. Even Super Bowl winners have to try and get better the next year.

Jerry Richardson basically forced psl holders to buy a piece of crap this year. He hasnt opened his mouth since he guaranteed a super bowl 16 years ago and was trying to sell psl's. If JR would actually come out and say something as to what his plan is, I think alot of people would feel better. What is his plan? MOve the team out of town in the black in night? Sell the team? Getting ready to make a serious run at a super bowl? Everyone is speculating that he is getting ready for a lockout that hasnt even happened. If psl owners were shareholders and jerry richardson was a ceo of a company he would be gone. Sometimes I feel like I bought into enron.

I do think Gettis or Lafell may work out. Lafell drops 3 easy catches for every incredible catch he makes. Was the same way in college. Hopeully he can improve on that.
