Corky has down syndrome. Corky really really wants to be a tap dancer. Despite Corky's best efforts and all the attempts to teach and encourage him he just can't do what the other kids can do. Eventually he realizes he ain't never gonna be no Sammy Davis Jr, and he just stops trying.
