That reads like it's from a Huddle poster (and one of the better ones at that).

Jake Delhomme and Steven Davis were both FA signings by Furney. There are others...but no one needs to do any research to know that this guy has an axe to grind for whatever reason.

"When a certain segment of fans question one aspect of an organization for several years most people write it off as frustration. However, when the majority of fans jump on the same complaint, that complaint is finally justified, and that certain segment of fans is begrudgingly vindicated."

    I'm confused already.

Okay so I understand, after. much, re!reading what he is trying to say?

If only a small group of fans have a gripe with one thing they can be called douches. If the majority of fans come around to having the same gripe then it proves that the gripe is valid. Therefore, the small original group is proved correct in their douchiness.

Only problem is that is bullshit. Fans opinions don't prove shit. If every single fan thinks exactly the same thing it still doesn't make it true.

When your opening thesis statement is completely invalid what follows isn't worth pursuing.

I don't think we've ever had top-flight infrastructure here. Hurney/Fox won the Julius Peppers sweepstakes, right off the bat, and also inherited a nucleus of future Pro Bowl talent from the prior regime. That pretty much carried them through the mid 2000's, and compensated for a few subpar drafts during that period. We've done a better job drafting starters in recent years, but then that's been canceled out mismanagement of veteran contracts.

We've been ok, but could have been much better. The NFC was horrible for most of their tenure. Twice we failed to make the playoffs when 8-8 would have done it. We could have given ourselves more chances.

in 2 years, Fox replaced over 1/2 the starters (most of whom were really awful). he started with no QB, no running game and no WRs (Smith hadn't developed yet). on D he had no corners, Deon making tons of mistakes on S, no pass rush and a bad front four and MLB that was slower than molassis. otherwise, he did start with a decent roster.

the nucleus of pro-bowl (to be) included Smitty, Jenkins and Morgan (all of which were coming off suspect rookie years. in addition there were at most 4-5 good players beyond them. the rest were either barely servicable or completely sucked. the starters as a whole were awful and the backups were worse than awful. the team was described at being a bare cupboard when fox took over. as it turned out, it wasn't completely bare because we had some rooks develop. we probably have some rooks and 2nd year players now that will develop.

we coulda done better but then we've done better than most during fox's span here.

their prinicple failings were not finding wrs or QBs of the future. they are paying for it now. i guess they were concerned with those positions considering the draft. with jr locking down the purse strings, they weren't able to bandaide those positions after losing jake and moose (which they might have done in past years). they're taking it on the chin because of that. plain and simple.

it's no fun but it is what it is. so all we can do is hope to see some rays of light this year. the good news is that the roster we have now looks a lot better than the one we had in 2001. should be easier to rebuild from. the key is clausen. if he sucks we are in trouble.

we've done ok. but that's about as far as i would go. we've been chronically inconsistent, not just year-to-year, but beyond the whole consecutive seasons/playoffs prattle. we've been inconsistent game-to-game.

many times i've questioned how prepared the team has been on game day. i can't begin to count the number of unknowns and backups that have had the benefit of playing against us.
