Now I know what all the fuss is about. I have had my own camera since I was about 12 (30 years) but I have never taken the plunge into serious glass. I had a chance to grab this monster for little out of own pocket and took the plunge. It dwarfs my D80. A battery grip is a must IMO. Last on my must have Lens list is the father of the f/2.8 family the 70-200....I might be 60 by then though.

    Nice!
I still haven`t invested in any high end glass. Seems there is always something there to take my money first.

    sweet stuff. Hope you enjoy!

I'd love a 2.8. It'd have to be a Tamron 17-50, those are fairly cheap. Otherwise, I'll just cover it with primes.

I just spent $1600 on a truck transmission. That could have bought at least one of the lens I was looking at.

I have spent over a week with it, last week I was on vacation with the youth from church and probably took 300 pictures, it is definitely a sweet lens. I can see what the fuss is about. Had I not had to spend more than roughly $400 out of my pocket I wouldn't have been able to afford this either. I had some points through my job that I was able to convert into money to put towards this lens.

The quickness of the lens impressed me, this is what I was hoping for with this shot, but didnt expect to get it as clean as it ended up. I am sure the compression wont do this shot any justice, but trust me when I say it turned out extremely sharp with a LOT of depth.

    great stuff.
Unfortunately, my brand's 24-70/2.8 is like $2000 - it's a Carl Zeiss and it's supposed to be the sharpest /2.8 on the market, but that's a ton of jack for a lens.

Here it is, comically mounted to our fantastic new NEX camera, which is point and shoot sized but has the DSLR sensor and fits SLR lenses.
