The point is if you gotta dump one.....Stewart is the smartest move to dump. I don't know what his contract is, so perhaps that comes into play....but Stewart hasn't shown the body of work that Williams has, and isn't as versatile.

You don't have to dump either one. They are clearly two of the best, if not the two best players on the roster. Pay them both and stop overpaying replaceable parts like Jordan Gross.

Ask the Chargers how overpaying the back with the greater of body of work and letting the backup go worked out.

Hindsight in that case is 20/20....does that mean a team should always let the better producer go and pay the backup?

Disagree, I think if you have to let one get away it's the older one with more carries that will command the higher contract.

    How is he less versatile?

DW is a threat as a receiver out of the backfield.

well it's been said that neither are up for trade. it would most likely be williams on the block though if it were to come about.

i'm actually a little glad now that we have the official announcement that we are rebuilding.

Stewart will still be playing under his rookie deal when DW has to be renewed with a high dollar deal.

    . . . with some other team.

Williams will not be offered a high enough dollar deal to keep him (and his agent) in Carolina

If we had not drafted Stewart I would be all about signing DW. Since he is here it does not make a lot of sense to break the bank for DW. When the time comes make Stewart the feature back and find a guy to back him up and get a few carries per game to keep Stewart fresh. With our OL any decent back should be productive.
