I would say its 2 years in the making. Hurney would have to be aware of this IMO. I have been grossly wrong before but it does make you wonder.

Jamar Williams is a good young player. He had the most upside on that Bears D, maybe Marcus Harrison would have been a better acquisition!

Sentimentally, I hate the shit out of this. I saw Harris as an emotional force on the defensive side, and one of the more underrated SS in the NFL.

Gave it more thought, and realize what they're going for--a C2 base defense with two safeties that can cover the shit out of their zones. Let 20 and 31 press and play the zones. It's what Meeks wants, I am sure.

Many are saying we're cutting payroll because of a lockout, or a sale of the team, or Fox being fired, or the asteroid hitting earth in 2012. I think all Hurney is trying for here is to stay ahead of the game when it comes time to lock down other, more talented, more valued assets:

    Thomas Davis
    Double Trouble
    Ryan Kalil
Jon Beason (remember, Ryans just got a mammoth deal from Houston)
    Smith, undoubtedly, will want more.

It's a shitty bidnez sometimes. Like the guy, and he hit like a ************, but he was marginal in coverage and missed almost 1/4 of the season last year when he was needed the most.

Also notable, Al Davis overdrafting McClain, if anything his deal sets the floor for Beason.

So they're stockpiling 3/4 guys from teams that are running the 3/4 but didn't want them?

And Tank Tyler was drafted to play Tampa 2, all 306 of him.

He said 1 weighs over 306, that is Leonard. This isn't difficult math.

There is no way to explain this one. He was young, cheap, and productive. None of the other players we have are an upgrade. In fact, Godfrey just sucks at everything.

So we're just getting younger and slightly cheaper. And shittier. It should be a fun season.

ditto, except i never was a fan. was setting a bad example for the babies by constantly going for the big hit and not wrapping up tackles. is, and always was a liability in coverage. that, and leaking crap on facebook, is not what you want from a "leader." if we get any kind of player in return it's just gravy. getting rid of harris was a plus in of its own.
