NFLN calling Alualu a possible 1st rounder, maybe even a top 20... be a good pick up where we are. Hard time seeing Tate available too... plus just not feeling WR anymore that high.

    Attempt #2

    48. Golden Tate, WR, Notre Dame. Lamarr Houston is interesting, but we need an upgrade at the X receiver. Tate is the only big school wideout I've seen who doesn't seem to suffer from diva-itis, and I think his skill set will work well in our offense.

    78. Jordan Shipley, WR/RS, Texas. Simply put, the more I see, hear, and read about this guy, the more I like him and the more I believe he can help us right from day 1 -- as a slot receiver and as a STer.

    112. Javier Arenas, CB, Alabama. Adds some much-needed depth and competition at CB, and according to NFL.com's scouting report is an "excellent" special teamer.

    175. Chris Scott, G/T, Tennessee. We could use some depth at G, and this guy looks to be an inside version of Otah. Great for our offense.

    202. George Selvie, DE, South Florida. Should be decent on special teams and push Charles Johnson for playing time. Tough, effort guy.

    204. Micah Johnson, LB, Kentucky. Should provide good LB depth, especially inside, and contribute on special teams.

    223. Kyle McCarthy, SS, Notre Dame. John Fox guy -- smart, tough overachiever. Should be very good STer and could develop into decent safety depth in time.

    249. Malcolm Sheppard, DT, Arkansas. Undersized 3-technique with a great work ethic and decent instincts. Should be a good fit for our defensive scheme.

I'm liking this effort a lot better than the last one.

    One last shot:

48.) Dexter McCluster - WR - No way Golden Tate or Linval Joseph fall to 48 but they'd be nice picks. Not necessarily a starter across from Smitty but adds some fire power to offense and return game

78.) Jermaine Cunningham -DE -I keep coming back to this pick. Overshadowed by Dunlap but the more consistent player.

112.) Javier Arenas - CB - Thought about Dekoda Watson the LB but Arenas is a pretty damn good corner and would fit the C2 well. Also a good return man.

175.) Jevan Snead - QB - Sucked last year but was pretty sick the year before and has the arm you like. Gonna take some time though

202.) David Reed - WR - Don't think he'll last this long but a solid WR

"You probably thought last year Carolina got wise and added a tight end or 6, but everyone of them busted and 3 of them didn't even make the team. Carolina has to draft Kyle Rudolph, a terrific pass catcher, to give Hunter Cantwell a chance to succeed."
